The rooms are small, the bathrooms are minuscule, and the in-window air conditioners are noisy, but if money is an object, this cozy hotel is a contender. At the end of one of the South End's prettiest streets, the gay-friendly lodging is an easy walk to the T, the Amtrak station, or any of Tremont Street's trendy restaurants. Try to snag a room whose number ends in 08, as these are larger corner rooms with views of the Back Bay, or one of the eight deluxe rooms. Fritz, a popular sports bar, moonlights as a brunch spot on weekends. The inn often hosts huge crowds during June's Gay Pride celebrations. Pros: Can't beat the price; friendly, bend-over-backwards staff. Cons: Some rooms are quite dingy, parking is tough in this area and expensive, thin-walled rooms can be noisy, expect more hostel than hotel.
