At the heart of the Fens is a marshy, meandering park, designed by landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead. You'll find pretty ponds and gardens and peace and quiet (if you can block out the students trekking back and forth to the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston University, Northeastern University, the Berklee College of Music, and Harvard Medical School-all of which border the Fens.) If you are visiting the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, or Fenway Park, walk though the Fens; it's a lovely space. Kenmore Square, which anchors the Fens, is Boston's most western neighborhood, and home to Boston University, the Boston Red Sox, and Boston's night life strip.
