Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the 1710 Baxter Grist Mill, by the shore of Mill Pond, is the only mill on Cape Cod powered by an inside water turbine; the others use either wind or paddle wheels. The mill was converted to the indoor metal turbine in 1860 due to the pond's low water level and the damage done to the wooden paddle wheel by winter freezes. The original metal turbine is displayed on the grounds, and a reproduction powers the restored mill. A videotape tells the mill's history. There are no scheduled hours or tours, but feel free to walk around the grounds.
