Aiken-Rhett House

Fodor's Review:

This stately 1819 mansion still has its original wallpaper, paint schemes, and even some of its furnishings. The kitchen, slave quarters, and work yard are much as they were when the original occupants lived here, making this one of the most complete examples of urban slave life. Confederate general P. G. T. Beauregard made his headquarters here in 1864.

  • Cost: $8; $14 with admission to Nathaniel Russell House
  • Open: Mon.-Sat. 10-5, Sun. 2-5
