Fodor's Review:

Though the immensely popular Taste of India (down the street at the corner of 55th) has a much better ambience -- no thought has been put into deco at this no-frills restaurant -- Bengal Tiger has become the new neighborhood favorite thanks to its authentic (which often means very spicy) dishes. Most of the menu will yield familiar words -- naan, tandoor, vindaloo, tikka masala -- but there are a few East Indian items not normally found in curry houses dominated by northern Indian specialties. The lunch buffet is $8.
