Getting Here and Around

Jasper National Park is in central Alberta in the Canadian Rockies. It is 178 km (111 mi) north of Banff Townsite and 50 km (31 mi) east of Jasper Townsite. The closest international airports are in Edmonton, 362 km (225 mi) to the east, and Calgary, 480 km (298 mi) to the southeast. Car rental agencies are available at both airports, as well as in Jasper. Driving is the easiest way to get from Edmonton to Jasper (on Yellowhead Highway 16).

Alternatively, train service is available three times per week (Monday, Thursday, and Saturday) from Edmonton to Jasper with VIA Rail Canada (888/842-7245 www.viarail.ca). Also, Greyhound Canada (800/661-8747, 800/231-2222 in the U.S. www.greyhound.ca) provides regular service to Jasper from Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver; and Brewster Sightseeing Excurions (800/760-6934 www.explorerockies.com) provides transportation between Calgary International Airport and Jasper.
