Off the Beaten Path

Tour operators, water taxis, and floatplanes will take you into the rain forest on trips to Meares Island and other parts of Clayoquot Sound. With Tla-ook Cultural Adventures, you can travel to a former aboriginal summer village with archaeological middens, on Echachist Island. The hot springs in Maquinna Marine Provincial Park (accessible only by boat) are popular, too, and kayakers may want to venture into the Broken Group Islands, part of Pacific Rim National Park Reserve.
