Sylvia Hotel Review

This Virginia-creeper-covered 1912 building is popular because of its affordable rates and its near-perfect location a stone's throw from the beach on scenic English Bay. It's two blocks from Stanley Park and a 20-minute walk from Robson Street. The rooms and apartment-style suites vary from tiny to spacious. Many of the basic but comfortable rooms are large enough to sleep four, and all have windows that open. Weekly and monthly stays available. To stay here in June through August you must book at least six months ahead.

    Hotel Details

Great location for a day when you don't plan to stick around the hotel

This hotel offers a great location; walking distance to the beach, Stanley Park, to the boats for granville island, access to countless restaurants, shops, supermarket and bike rentals.

The hotel rooms are spartan and plain. I realize they are capturing a bygone era and this hotel has an incredible loyal following. Do not expect american amenities such as a coffee pot in the room or a newspaper at your front door. The rooms are on the average/small size. I did not see a thermostat in the room for AC or heat.
