Westjet, Air Canada, and Air Canada Jazz provide service to Halifax and Sydney from various cities. Air travel within the area is very limited. Air Canada provides regional service to other provinces and to Sydney, Nova Scotia. Provincial Airlines, a regional Air Canada carrier, flies between Newfoundland, Labrador, and Halifax. Porter airlines provides service to Ottawa, Montrééal, and Toronto, whereas Sunwing flies daily to Toronto. United Airlines flies to Chicago from June through October, and offers daily nonstop service to Washington. American Eagle flies daily to New York (Laguardia and JFK). Halifax is also served by Continental (from Newark), and Northwest (from Detroit and Newark). Delta (through SkyWest) offers a weekly round-trip from Atlanta and Zoom Airlines now services four seasonal European gateways nonstop from Halifax (London, Glasgow, Belfast, and Paris). Icelandair travels three times a week to Reykjavíík.
The Halifax International Airport is 40 km (25 mi) northeast of downtown Halifax. Sydney Airport is 13 km (8 mi) east of Sydney.
Limousine and taxi services, as well as car rentals, are available at Halifax and Sydney airports. Airport bus service to Halifax and Dartmouth hotels from Halifax International Airport costs $36 round-trip, $18 one-way. Airbus has regular bus service from the Halifax airport to most major hotels in Halifax. Regular taxi and limo fares to Halifax from Halifax International are $53 each way. If you book ahead with Share-A-Cab, the fare is $28, but you must share your car with another passenger. The trip takes 30 to 40 minutes.
