$-$$, Cafe, Vieux-Montréal
Fodor's Review:
Fast food with style is the specialty of Claude Postel's staff, and that goes down just fine with the hordes of hungry clerks and lawyers who line up at lunchtime for such ready-made meals as braised veal and poached salmon with perhaps a vegetable and orange soup to start. The bistrolike dining room is comfortable and welcoming if you want to eat in, but you can also order a sandwich -- on excellent crusty bread -- and eat it alfresco at the Vieux-Port, a couple of blocks south. Mid-afternoon hunger pangs? Stop by for a cone of intensely flavored gelato-style ice cream. The place closes at 7 PM.
