John Lennon and Yoko Ono staged their "bed in for peace" in Room 1742 of this hotel in 1969. Rooms are modern, spacious, and spotless, with lush carpeting and richly colored fabrics. The suite-level floors -- 20 and 21 -- have business services, and the Gold floors -- 18 and 19 -- have their own elevator, check-in, and concierge. The hotel is the site of many conventions. Pros: easy access to trains, Métro, and the Underground City; excellent afternoon tea. Con: lobby is as busy as a train station.

Our room was a suite and newly renovated with a comfortable bed and amenities. Staff were most helpful and courteous, but the restaurant was closed and the strike caused delays in room cleaning. The location is close to everything but next to nothing.
