There's a persistent rumor that some people actually go to the Globe for the food, that they don't just order up braised venison or wild chinook salmon or raspberry tart so they'll have an excuse to sit at a table in one of Montréal's liveliest restaurants for a couple of hours and ogle the other slickly dressed patrons (or be ogled by them). And it's not just the patrons that are worth ogling. George Clooney, for example, fell in love -- albeit briefly -- with one of the Globe's waitresses back in March 2001. But that was spring, of course.
