Valhalla Lodge Bed & Breakfast Review

On a hill overlooking iceberg alley 8 km (5 mi) from L'Anse aux Meadows, the Valhalla has quiet and brightly painted rooms with large windows, pine Scandinavian furniture, and handmade quilts. The rooms all have Viking names. Some fossils are part of the rock fireplace in the common room. Breakfast is a treat, especially pancakes with local berry sauce. Pulitzer Prize winner E. Annie Proulx, author of The Shipping News, stayed here while writing the novel. The owners of this lodge have bought and now rent out two homes in which Proulx lived; you can even take her dory for a row. The Quoyle's is a three-bedroom A-frame house with a view of the ocean, and Wavey's is a low-ceilinged Newfoundland saltbox with two bedrooms.
