Moose Warning
Newfoundland is home to more than 110,000 moose, and most highways run through their habitat. If possible, avoid night driving, as most moose-related vehicle accidents (about 700 a year) happen between dusk and dawn. Watch for vehicles that slow down or stop on the sides of roads: drivers may have spotted a moose. And pay attention to the caution signs, which are placed in areas where moose are known to cross frequently.
