North
North Review
Since opening in 2007 in the center of Gravenhurst, North has been praised as one of the best restaurants in Muskoka, serving hearty Canadian fare that makes good use of local meats and produce. The small dining room, with walls lined with paintings by local artists, high-backed dark leather chairs and white tablecloths paired with rustic-looking stained pine floors, has a clean and rustic farm-to-table chic. Chef Alain Irvine's menu changes seasonally but patrons can expect staples such as grilled Angus New York steak with fries, tomatoes in basil oil, and red wine veal glaze; black Angus beef tenderloin and garlic prawn with truffle whipped potato; and fish and chips with house-made tartar sauce; in addition to fresh seafood dishes. Popular dessert includes brownies made with local Muskoka Brewery brown ale. Despite its being one of the classiest establishments in town, the atmosphere is relaxed and the service friendly and attentive.
