The Roof Lounge
The Roof Lounge Review
Such Canadian literary luminaries as Margaret Atwood and Mordecai Richler have used the 18th-floor Roof Lounge as a setting in their writings. The tiny bar is chic and refined without stuffiness or pretension and has dark wood and leather accents. Martinis and cosmopolitans are the specialties, though the menu also includes a nice selection of single malts and tequilas, tapas, and light meals. In warm weather you can choose a Cuban cigar from the menu of seven south-of-the-border stogies ranging in price from C$8 to C$250 and smoke on the adjoining patio, which affords lovely views of the downtown skyline and lake. The bar is cozily petite and does not accept reservations, so arrive in the late afternoon on weekends to avoid a wait.
