Borden-Carleton
Once home port to the Marine-Atlantic car ferries, Borden-Carleton has, since 1997, been linked to the mainland via the Confederation Bridge. The 13-km (8-mi) behemoth spans the Northumberland Strait and ends in Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick. First-time visitors always want to stop and take a picture but don't: stopping is illegal—you must maintain a speed of 80 kmh (50 mph)—and besides, the best view is from the Island side as you're approaching the bridge; there are also lots of postcards for sale that capture fabulous aerial and water views.
