Hôtel du Lac Review

Built as a family house in the early 1900s, this building has been a rooming house, brothel, and private club—now it's a rustic but comfortable European-owned hotel with excellent facilities, just down the lakeside road from the ski station at Mont-Tremblant. The original log-cabin lodge is furnished in colonial style, with wooden staircases and huge stone fireplaces. The French restaurant ($$$-$$$$), helmed by renowned chef Jean-Luc de La Bruère, is outstanding. Both the main lodge and the split-level condominium complex (with fireplaces, private balconies or patios, and kitchenettes), up the hill from the lodge, have magnificent views of Mont-Tremblant. A complimentary shuttle takes you to the ski hills.
