The soaring 50-foot-high atrium lobby makes a striking entrance to this 38-story hotel a few blocks from the cruise-ship terminal and central business district. Decorated in modern pale woods and neutral tones, each room has almost a full wall of windows offering expansive views of Burrard Inlet and the North Shore Mountains or the city skyline. The hotel's Show Case restaurant and bar ($$$) serves West Coast cuisine with global influences. The walls of windows in the restaurant and bar edge the outside sidewalk so you may feel part of the show -- this is not the place for a romantic tête-à-tête. Pros: In the financial district, midpoint between major shopping and Stanley Park, modern, great concierge. Cons: Restaurant a bit pricey, rooms often not available until 4 PM.
