Like the Vancouver waterfront, this business-district hotel is constantly transforming as the Olympics approaches, but rooms are larger than average and have either step-out or full-size glassed-in balconies with city or (in the more expensive rooms) partial water and mountain views. There's an indoor pool, a health club, and direct access to a waterside park -- take all this and combine it with the "kids under 12 eat free" policy, and you have a good choice for families in an ocean-side high-rise. Pros: At the outer edge of the financial district, waterfront views, revolving restaurant. Cons: Waterfront construction will eventually obstruct some of the views; a 5-block walk to major shopping and Stanley Park (though by 2010 a waterfront path will connect to the park).
