Affordable and historic, this four-story manor near Craigdarroch Castle has been a guesthouse since 1913. A large, welcoming common room is replete with Victoriana and original stained glass; a traditional English breakfast is served in the garden-view dining room. Rooms are cozy with floral bedspreads and wallpaper; all have private baths though in some cases the baths are across the hall. Two-room units and a guest kitchen appeal to families, and single rooms are offered at a single rate (C$65). A one-bedroom suite, remodeled in 2006, has modern furnishings, a jetted tub, and a rain-forest shower; it's the only unit with a phone, TV, and kitchenette. Pros: Affordable, atmospheric, family and single friendly. Cons: A bit removed from downtown, the parking lot isn't available until evening.
