$-$$$, Ucluelet
Fodor's Review:
You can book a cabin on this 1932 steam-powered survey ship moored at Ucluelet's marina. Though hardly opulent, the staterooms are comfortable, with one to four berths and shared bathrooms. The captain's cabin is a full suite with a private bath. The resort's shoreside rooms are bigger, if less atmospheric, with private entrances, contemporary furnishings, and patios or balconies; a few have fireplaces, and some are large enough to sleep six. Most guests come here to fish or whale-watch -- the resort is home to the area's largest charter company. Pros: Ideal downtown Ucluelet location, attractive laid-back atmosphere. Cons: The shared bathrooms and the fact that large fishing cruisers sometimes fire up their engines at quite an early hour.
