$$$$, Victoria
Fodor's Review:
Across the Johnson Street Bridge from downtown Victoria, this waterfront property has all sorts of resort facilities, from tennis and squash courts to a popular spa, a 24-hour gym, and a waterfront walking path. Rooms, many with views of the Parliament Buildings across the water, are spacious and airy, though the conservative furnishings say "business hotel" rather than "resort." Conferences do play a big role here, though kids are made welcome with check-in treats, discounted meals, and evening story time. The hotel's restaurant, Lure ($$$) offers fresh local seafood and expansive harbor views. Pros: Water views, full range of facilities, downtown shuttle and harbor ferry service. Cons: Not central, standard design, gets busy with conferences and groups.
