Set on a peninsula on the Inner Harbour's quiet south shore, this Asian-inspired 1980s-era hotel has harbor views from every room. Some of the public areas might look a bit tired but the sunny decks, Japanese garden, and parklike, harborside setting compensate. Rooms -- especially in the Arthur Erickson-designed southern wing -- are light and airy, with blond wood and Asian touches; all have balconies and some suites have large harbor-view decks. In-room spa services, free local calls, and free passes to the downtown Y are all nice touches. Pros: Views, parklike setting. Cons: 10-minute walk to downtown, drab public areas.
