Serene is the word used by co-owner Stephen Ashton to describe this retreat made up of two ground-level waterfront rooms and a self-catering forest cottage at the end of a leafy lane, on Grice Bay, a few kilometers south of Tofino. You can't see the town from here, so the night sky is a star-filled canopy. The spacious king and queen guest rooms are elegantly appointed; the cottage rustic and cozy. The B&B is also close to Chesterman and MacKenzie beaches, on the opposite side of the Pacific Rim Highway, and just a five-minute walk to the Tofino Botanical Gardens. Pros: The discrete location just south of Tofino (note that the sign -- a simple crow -- is a bit hard to spot). Cons: No TV.
