$-$$, Mexican, South Phoenix
Fodor's Review:
In a hacienda that belonged to silent-era movie star Tom Mix, this fun restaurant focuses on New Mexican-style Mexican food. That means hot. New Mexico chiles form the backbone and fiery breath of the dishes, and the green-chile enchilada and beef taco are potentially lethal. The red salsa and enchiladas with egg on top are excellent. There's a funky courtyard where you can sip potent margaritas while waiting for a table. This is a must-do dining experience if you want authentic New Mexican-style food, but be prepared to swig lots of water.
