Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch Resort Review
This 32-acre hideaway in the Santa Catalina Foothills is a charming and more intimate alternative to the larger resorts. Part guest ranch (there are riding stables down the road) and part resort, it's entirely gracious. Designed in classic Mexican hacienda style, this former finishing school for girls was converted to a guest ranch during World War II and attracted stars like Clark Gable, Katharine Hepburn, and Spencer Tracy. The best rooms are the west-facing casitas with fireplaces and private porches, where you can watch the sun set over the Tucson Mountains.
