Flora and Fauna
Flora and Fauna
Joshua Tree will shatter your notions of the desert as a vast wasteland. Life flourishes in this land of little rain, as flora and fauna have adapted to heat and drought. In most areas you'll be walking among native Joshua trees, ocotillos, and yuccas. One of the best spring desert wildflower displays in Southern California blooms here in March, April, and May. You'll see plenty of animals—reptiles such as nocturnal sidewinders, birds like golden eagles or burrowing owls, and occasionally mammals like coyotes and bobcats.
