UCLA Hammer Museum Review

The bold murals and installations at this museum have been known to bring traffic on Wilshire Boulevard to a crawl. In the heart of Westwood, the Hammer emphasizes the here and now, luring in new museumgoers with splashy, eye-catching displays in the museum's glass entryway. Focused on art and artists of our time, the museum forms a bridge between the city's artistic expression and the forward educational spirit of adjacent UCLA. Selections from Armand Hammer's permanent collection are also incorporated, including works by Claude Monet, Vincent van Gogh, and John Singer Sargent's powerful portrait of Dr. Pozzi. The 295-seat Billy Wilder Theater opened in 2006 and features selections from UCLA's Film & Television Archive to host unique public programs.
