Fodor's Review:
This Melrose Avenue hot spot shares its building with a tattoo parlor, so watch those cocktails! A recent makeover by noted restaurant designer Thomas Schoos resulted in a sleek, theatrical dining room with purple chandeliers and walls of candles, while the sexy loungemakes a good place to sip a watermelon martini while snacking on truffled Gruyère fondue. Native Angeleno chef Govind Armstrong keeps it relatively straightforward but never boring, with a market-driven contemporary American cuisine free of excessive ethnic influences. Items such as lobster-stuffed squash blossoms, New Zealand snapper with rock shrimp spätzle and grilled baby chicken on short rib hash with caramelized cipollini onion jus reflect a simple yet sophisticated approach.
