$$$-$$$$, West Hollywood
Fodor's Review:
From this perch bordering busy La Cienega Boulevard, you're close to some of the city's best restaurants and nightlife including Stone Rose, the hotel's cool indoor/outdoor lounge by nightclub kingpin Rande Gerber. Simon LA, the hotel's restaurant, serves updated American classics; the canvas-covered patio is the favored spot for breakfast. A glass-walled and dramatically lit entrance introduce Sofitel's polished style -- guest rooms are tones of grays and blacks, with Hollywood Regency-style furniture, flat-screen TVs, and frosted-glass sliding doors leading to the bathrooms. Blond-wood paneling sets off the feather duvet-topped beds. For the best view, ask for a room facing the hills -- otherwise you'll be facing the monolithic Beverly Center mall. A visit to the hotel's Le Spa includes access to steam, sauna, and poolside cabanas spa plus the 24-hour fitness center complete with retractable skylight.
