Fodor's Review:
Chateau Marmont Hotel. The Chateau's swank exterior disguises its lurid place in Hollywood history -- many remember it as the scene of John Belushi's fatal overdose in 1982, and in 2004 controversial photographer Helmut Newton died in a car crash on his way out of the hotel. Celebs like Johnny Depp and Lindsay Lohan appreciate the hotel for its secluded cottages, bungalows, and understated suites and penthouses. For those who don't grace the cover of Vanity Fair, service can be frosty. The interior is 1920s style, although some of the decor looks dated rather than vintage. The Wi-Fi throughout the hotel means that you can surf the Net while seated on the hotel's scenic, landscaped terrace with drop-dead sunset views.

My husband wanted me to try this place while we visited our daughter at school. What can I say? this hotel is a complete joke. Why celebrities would pick this place over the Peninsula or Regent Beverly Wilshire is beyond me, and the rates are just as expensive. We stayed in a $500.00 a night room and felt that it was in some need of refurbishment, the staff also had a bad attitude, it seemed like we were a bother to them. We checked out after one night and moved to the Regent which was only $395 a night, and like a different world.
