Craft Los Angeles

Craft Los Angeles Review

Prominent New York chef Tom Colicchio (star judge of TV's Top Chef) expands his burgeoning empire with this sleek Southern California outpost. Thanks to Century City's growing legions of Hollywood agents and lawyers, Craft has emerged as a major film industry hangout. In its open, airy dining room vaguely reminiscent of an elegant special-events tent, deals are brokered over lunches featuring seasonal, artisanal ingredients. In the evening, Craft is ideal for groups sharing plates from Colicchio's signature à la carte menu that changes daily to encompass the likes of roasted Peruvian octopus in zatar yogurt and roasted pineapple, braised beef short ribs, and veal sweetbreads with plums. Boutique produce goes into a plethora of side dishes, and desserts may include butterscotch pudding with dates and hazelnuts or beignets with blackberry honey and chocolate. The endless, non-descriptive menu can be frustrating and some dishes miss the mark—but just as many sparkle.
