Found in a renovated, greasy spoon in the outskirts of downtown Culver City, Waterloo & City is a British gastropub that has fine-dining lineage from its owners and kitchen staff. But the mood here is decidedly casual and definitely easy-going. A communal table anchors the lounge area, vintage mirrors adorn the walls, and suede banquettes make for cozy seating. Start your night with a pint or a cocktail and order from the beloved one-of-a-kind charcuterie menu, which has given this restaurant meat-curing street cred. Order the rabbit and pistachio terrine, duck and walnut paté, and pig trotters. Balance out the rich meats with an arugula salad tossed with roasted almonds, tangerines, and parmesan cheese. The fettuccini with spicy Thai lobster, mussels, and lime is a fresh approach to pasta, and the lamb "bangers" and carrot "mash" is a great spin to an English classic. The sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel is an absolute must.
