$$-$$$, American, Los Feliz
Fodor's Review:
This stylish eatery kicked off a renaissance on its colorful namesake street. Vaulted ceilings, Persian rugs, and fresh flowers make the interior graceful and inviting. The modern menu starts with the likes of crab cakes wading in a pool of gazpacho with lime aïoli or duck salad with miso dressing, then moves on to crispy whitefish with basil sauce, braised lamb shank, and vegetarian risotto. Vermont is excellent for quiet business lunches, but the livelier dinner hour -- an alluring lounge adjoins the restaurant -- attracts everyone from Armani-clad studio suits to bohemian artists.
