Fodor's Review:
The American Cinemathèque Independent Film Series screens classics plus recent independent films, sometimes with question-and-answer sessions with the filmmakers. The main venue is the Lloyd E. Rigler Theater, within the 1922 Egyptian Theater, which combines an exterior of pharaoh sculptures and columns with a modern, high-tech design inside. The Cinemathèque also screens movies at the 1940 Aero Theater (1328 Montana Ave., Santa Monica. 323/466-3456).
