It's easy to arrange for a flight into John Wayne Airport, conveniently near the intersection of the I-405 and Highway 55 freeways. From most destinations, you may have to book a connecting flight to get there. Long Beach Airport, near the south end of Los Angeles County by I-405, can also be handy. A hub for low-cost domestic airline JetBlue, it has many daily nonstop flights.

To Catalina Island

Island Express helicopters depart hourly from San Pedro and Long Beach (8 AM-dusk). The trip takes about 15 minutes and costs $89.30 one-way, $170 round-trip. Reservations a week in advance are recommended.
