Wealthy locals rate this restaurant at the Rancho Bernardo Inn tops for style and cuisine. The tranquil setting features candlelit tables, plush banquettes, and quiet, live music. Chef Gavin Kaysen has updated the classic menu with sublime renditions of katifi-wrapped langoustines, lamb loin, and rib eye with petit pomme frites. A tasting menu ($49-$95 per person) offers a succulent selection based on what's fresh. The wine list has more than 1,500 wines, including rare vintages.

This continues to be the best restaurant in the area - well worth a trip "upcounty" for a superb and romantic dinner.
