Fodor's Review:
There's a youthful vibe to this mod restaurant and bar in Middletown/Banker's Hill that seems to attract people of all ages. Foodies come early for chef-owner Nathan Coulon's California-French fare that includes organic beet and avocado salads, roasted free-range chicken with organic baby carrots and pea pods, meltingly tender beef short ribs, and a well-priced wine list to complement it all. Move on to the bar for Ariana Johnson's cocktails made with seasonal fruit, such as the raspberry Ruby Sipper or margaritas with fresh tangerine juice. The bar menu boasts bowls of perfect Belgian fries or beef bourguignon "Sloppy Joes" on housemade buns, served until 1 AM. After 10 Thursday-Saturday, Modus morphs into a noisy club with guest DJs spinning.
