Fodor's Review:
This converted 1920s hotel is two blocks from the beach. Private rooms with private baths are available. Breakfast is complimentary, and dinner is free on Tuesday and Friday. The 100-bed hostel, which is close to many Ocean Beach restaurants and nightspots, has kitchen facilities, a storage area, vending machines, a TV room, a recreation room, and a patio. Weekly rates are available.
- In-room: no a/c, no TV.
- In-hotel: laundry service, bicycles, no-smoking rooms.

Friendly and Social Hostel at the Beach

I heard of the OBI Hostel from some friends at the USA Hostel in Las Vegas. They were so impressed with this place that it made me want to experience the place too. I took the Greyhound to San Diego and found that everything they had told me about the place was true. I arrived in San Diego late at night and the hostel actually paid for a taxi to bring me out to the hostel. The staff was great and I had a wonderful time meeting travelers from all over the world and going to the beach during the day.
