  This Hilton' public spaces are open,, clean, airy and bright. I enjoyed the atmosphere, room size and view. However, the location is at the end of the hotel row along the embarcadero which means you will have a longer walk to the Gaslamp District, downtown or anywhere actually. Butt, if you enjoy watching Dole cargo ships unload, it's a hoot. The big disapointment was that breakfast was not up to Hilton quality and not even close to what I have come to expect from a Hilton ( they usually have great breakfast buffets). The warming trays and chaffing dishes are set too low so that the food wasn't warm enough to keep from becoming whatever-is-inside indelible jerky. Really a disappointment. The service at breakfast and in the bar (way overpriced) was outstanding.
  
  Would I stay here again? Probably not because I've had a much better experience at the Hyatt up the embarcadero, even though the rooms aren't as big but if the pric is right, maybe? My husband stayed at the Hilton Gaslamp and thought it was much better.

  When I heard we were staying at the Hilton for our upcoming business meeting, my expectations were "Hiltonesque," but boy was I wrong. The location alone is incredible, right on the water with amazing views in every direction, just at the foot of the Gaslamp, and next door to the convention center. The decor says boutique hotel, with cool blues and warm beiges and browns echoing the nautical heritage of the area. My room was spacious and well-planned; the bathroom was huge with a gorgeous walk-in shower. The service was amazing and the food was delicious. We at breakfast, lunch, and dinner there over our four-day stay and each meal was excellent. The meeting spaces are beautiful, many with natural lighting and lovely views. There is a full-service business center with staff. Although I didn't get to try it out, the pool overlooks the bay and has a large plasma screen TV. Next time! If you're traveling for business or a convention to San Diego, I highly recommend this hotel. I'll stay there again next time I'm in SD.
