  Don't miss while you're visiting San Diego

  Don't miss this little gem of a museum while you're visiting San Diego. The art collection includes photographs and paintings by the local San Diego artists. Because of San Diego's Latin infused scene, expect some brilliant, rather colorful tones with the paintings. Great for inspiration.

  The Jewel of North San Diego

  Oceanside Museum of Art, or OMA as it is affectionately referred to by the locals, is located right above Carlsbad, and about half way between Orange County and San Diego city proper.
  
  Billed as a regional art museum, OMA is known as much for its art and focus on local artists as it is for its 600+ attendees bi-monthly parties on Friday nights called "Art After Dark".
  
  I first visited the museum 2 years ago and was immediately struck by the friendliness of the staff, and the exhibits. The art was accessible, as were the docents and staff. I immediately took a liking to the place and have returned often for that comfortable yet art-filled atmosphere.
  
  This is a highly recommended stop in Oceanside. Afterwards the Oceanside pier is just a short walk away, as are some wonderful eating spots, from the formal dining at Pacific 333 to the easy eating taco shops.
