San Francisco Nightlife

DNA Lounge Review

The music changes nightly at the venerable DNA Lounge, and one of the highlights is Bootie. Held the second Saturday of each month, this popular mash-up unites hard-core and indie rockers, hip-hop devotees, and emo fans. If a DJ mix of Gorillaz, Donna Summer, and Joy Division is your bag, you're in for a treat. Blow Up, which mixes Euro-electro, house, and dance-party jams on most Friday nights, is also popular. On other nights, the place can be dead. Three bars and dance floors on two levels mean that DNA is rarely uncomfortably crowded. The action spills into the pizza joint next door, so you don't have to stop dancing if you suddenly get hungry.
