Taj Campton Place San Francisco Review

Beauty and highly attentive service remain the hallmarks of this exquisite jewel-like, top-tier hotel. Fresh-cut orchids and Japanese floral arrangements bring natural beauty inside, where you'll feel sheltered from the teeming crowds on the street. Updated rooms can be small but are well laid out and elegantly decorated in a contemporary Italian style, with sandy earth tones and handsome pearwood paneling and cabinetry. Limestone baths have deep soaking tubs; double-pane windows keep city noises at bay, a plus in this active neighborhood. Free overnight shoeshine service, an attentive staff, and intuitive turndown service add to the enchantment. The Campton Place Restaurant, whose East Indian chef serves French-infused contemporary cuisine at dinner, is famed for its lavish breakfasts, decadent tasting menus, and luscious desserts. The lounge is a popular cocktail-hour hangout for the downtown crowd. At press time, rooms were slated to be refurbished.
