$$-$$$, Mediterranean, Moss Beach
Fodor's Review:
Chef-owner Jose Luiz Ugalde is a master of creative dishes, particularly the sweet and spicy (many sauces contain fruits such as apricots and currants). The flavors here are unexpected -- calamari baked with cinnamon, Catalan-style pork in grape leaves -- and the atmosphere is sensual, with peach walls lighted by flickering candles and booths draped with curtains and lined with pillows. Two miles south of Moss Beach on the east side of the highway, it's a bit hard to find, but worth the hunt. At signs for Pillar Point Harbor, turn inland onto Capistrano, then right onto Alhambra.
