The Hitching Post II Review

You'll find everything from grilled artichokes to quail at this casual eatery just outside Solvang, but most people come for the wonderful smoky Santa Maria-style barbecue. Be sure to try a glass of owner-chef-winemaker Frank Ostini's signature Highliner Pinot Noir, a star in the film Sideways.

    The Hitching Post II Review

Being a fan of the movie, Sideways, I felt I should dine at the Hitching Post. The restaurant is almost exactly as it appears in the movie...dark woods and casual.

The food and the wine...well, let's just say I had a legendary dining experience. My filet was melt in your mouth, literally.

The wine was some of the best I tasted in Santa Inez, and I tasted a lot. From their signature, Highliner Pinot to their Syrah to their blends - you can't go wrong. Big, beautiful and complex. No wonder Miles (from the movie) was a regular!

I wish I lived closer to the HP!
