Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe Review

This circa-1940s diner sits right on U.S. Historic Route 66 and is favored by locals for its generous portions and old-fashioned home cooking. Try the biscuits and gravy, chicken-fried steak, or the famous Trucker's Sandwich, stuffed with roast beef, bacon, chilies, and cheese. The Brian Burger also elicits consistent praise.

    Emma Jean's Holland Burger Cafe Review

    Emma Jean’s is a through back to the old roadside diners that followed Route 66 from California to Illinois. By the looks of it, it hasn’t changed much over the years. With seating for only about two dozen, a short wait can be common, especially around lunchtime. Open for breakfast and lunch only, Mon-Sat. The servers are a real kick, so be careful what you say, they don't miss a trick!

    The ½ lb. burgers and patty melts are a staple, but I think you’ll find everything they offer to your liking. They have great cobblers too. On my last stop I had a Brian Burger and was eying a peach cobbler, but by the time I finished the burger, there was no way I could even split a cobbler. Next time I’ll start w/ the cobbler!
