Black American West Museum

Fodor's Review:

The revealing documents here depict the vast contributions that African-Americans made to opening up the West. Nearly a third of the cowboys and many pioneer teachers and doctors were African-Americans. One floor is devoted to black cowboys; another to military troops such as the Buffalo Soldiers. Changing exhibits focus on topics such as the history of black churches in the West.
