Colorado Renaissance Festival

Colorado Renaissance Festival Review

Larkspur is home to just a few hundred residents, but it knows how to throw a heck of a party—and a medieval one at that. The Colorado Renaissance Festival annually throws open its gates to throngs of families, chain mail-clad fantasy enthusiasts, tattooed bikers, and fun lovers of every other kind. Within the wooded 350-acre "kingdom" there are performers who deliver everything from juggling stunts and fire-eating to hypnotism and comedy. The big event happens three times a day, when knights square off in the arena for a theatrical joust. There are also more than 200 artisans selling their wares, games, rides, and myriad food and drink booths. It's a great way to while away a summer day, though it can be a bit much to handle in the hottest weather. Larkspur is 9 mi north of Palmer Lake via Route 18.
