Still chugging along is the Leadville, Colorado & Southern Railroad Company, which can take you on a breathtaking 2½-hour trip to the Continental Divide. The train leaves from Leadville's century-old depot and travels beside the Arkansas River to its headwaters at Freemont Pass. The return trip takes you down to French Gulch for views of Mount Elbert, Colorado's highest peak.
